How To Get Started: A Primer

Drawing Materials:
a short introduction to drawing materials that will be helpful and forgiving as you begin working with the figure.
Contour Drawing:
This is the best way I've found to improve drawing skills by focusing on closer observation and improving eye-hand coordination.
Gesture Drawing:
a good way to capture movement and work more efficiently. Gestural drawing will improve your drawing speed and make drawings more lively.

I recommend that you work from a live person, but if one is not available, the image above is a great object to do contour drawings from. Come back to this page when you are working on contour and blind contour drawings. Pay close attention to the changing planes.
